- The Russian government has approved a decision to increase the availability of communications in rural areas.
Russia has approved a resolution on the procedure for forming a list of territories where telecom operators will share electronic means. This was announced on May 30 on the website of the Government of the Russian Federation.
It is emphasized that these measures will be aimed at increasing the availability of mobile communications and the Internet for both rural residents and motorists.
"According to the signed resolution, Roskomnadzor will form proposals for the inclusion of territories in such a list and send them to the Ministry of Finance annually no later than March 15," the text explains.
After receiving the data, the agency will review the proposals within 30 days and send them to the operators to confirm the technical feasibility of joint operation of the equipment.
It is specified that at the same time, large operators will be able to share one base station in settlements where less than 1 thousand people live, as well as on certain sections of federal highways.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on April 23 that residents of all small towns in the country should be provided with the Internet. This is necessary, as he explained, so that citizens do not feel disconnected from the possibilities of technological progress.
