The headquarters of the United NATO Armed Forces (SHAPE) in Europe claims that the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that crashed in Romania was allegedly of "Russian origin." This was announced on May 29 by Martin O'Donnell, a representative of the command.

According to him, against the background of the incident, NATO intends to improve the protection of Romania and other countries of the alliance from drones.

"This incident is likely to increase tensions on the alliance's eastern flank," Reuters reported.
