In the Kursk region, 446 residents were confirmed dead after the partial invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border areas of the region. This was announced on May 29 by the head of the region, Alexander Khinshtein.

Also, 332 people continue to be listed in the search database.

"Over the past year, a tremendous amount of work has been done to find people. Of the 2,173 Kurians included in the register, it was possible to locate the absolute majority — 1,841 people. Among them, alas, are 446 dead. At the moment, 332 names remain in the search database," Khinstein said.

On May 15, Konstantin Korpusov, head of the Main Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, announced that tens of thousands of civilians in the Kursk region had been granted the status of victims as a result of an attack by Ukrainian armed forces on border areas. He said that during the recording of crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, investigators carried out extensive work with the population.

On April 14, former Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova reported that information about the executions of civilians by the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region was confirmed by eyewitnesses and the discovery of mass graves. She clarified that Kursk residents who were returning to Russia from captivity had told about them.
