The deputy spoke about the preparation of EU residents for the war with Russia
State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev said that an information campaign has been underway in Europe for a long time, in which public opinion is actively formed in a negative way towards Russia.
In an interview with the Mail News on Friday, May 29, Matveychev noted that such cases do not occur for the first time and are associated with a long-term information campaign by the EU against Russia.
"In fact, Ukrainian provocateurs are specifically launching drones on the territory of other European countries, posing them as Russian drones. This is done with one sole purpose, it is not hidden by anyone, to involve Europe in a war with Russia and to increase the number of all possible subsidies to Ukraine," the parliamentarian stressed.
According to him, cases of Ukrainian drones crashing in Europe are often presented as alleged attacks by the Russian Federation, forming a negative attitude towards the country and reinforcing society's demand for support for Ukraine. According to him, this leads to further escalation, while Europe, as he claims, already considers Russia as a potential adversary and is discussing changes in NATO approaches.
On the same day, Mediafax news agency reported that a drone crashed into an apartment building in the town of Galac in eastern Romania. After the incident, the country's Foreign Minister, Oana Choiu, noted that the situation could become a reason for consultations on Article 4 of NATO, and Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev was summoned to the department.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last October that Europe often blames Russia for "really strange" incidents involving alleged drones over their countries.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the EU countries' allegations about the UAV situation in Romania an attempt to divert attention from the actions of the Ukrainian side.
Russian President Vladimir Putin urged to wait for the examination of the UAV wreckage in Romania. According to him, it is impossible to establish the origin of the UAV in Romania before that.
