Due to the shortage of personnel, companies are massively opening vacancies for schoolchildren and students under 18 years of age - the number of such offers increased almost one and a half times in April — May, exceeding 1.8 thousand, Izvestia found out. Minors are actively invited to work in delivery, trade, catering and entertainment, and salaries for individual positions exceed 50 thousand rubles. At the same time, teenagers' interest in part-time work has grown: the number of resumes has increased by a third. Why businesses are increasingly hiring minors and how to find a job for a teenager — in the material of Izvestia.

Summer part-time jobs for teenagers in 2026

Russian companies have started actively recruiting teenagers for part-time jobs during the summer holidays. In April–May 2026, organizations posted over 1.8 thousand vacancies offering temporary employment for minors. This is 43% more than it was in March, calculated for Izvestia in hh.ru . According to the recruitment platform, teenagers are encouraged to get jobs as couriers, promoters, packers, animators, and waiters.

The salary for children for such vacancies may exceed 50 thousand rubles. The income of targetologists per hour of work ranges up to 1 thousand, for animators — up to 1.3 thousand, for dogsiters — up to 2 thousand rubles. Ad placers are offered up to 2.3 thousand per shift, promoters — 2 thousand, couriers — up to 5 thousand. In addition, the seller and the babysitter can receive up to 30 thousand per month, the photographer — up to 40 thousand, and the waiter and the order collector — over 50 thousand.

The Russian labor market continues to change rapidly: the shortage of personnel persists, the imbalance between demand and qualifications of workers is not decreasing, and the pressure on salaries from applicants is increasing, said Farida Mirzabalayeva, Associate Professor of the Basic Department of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Human Resource Management" at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

At the same time, the country has a record low unemployment rate of 2.2%. She added: against this background, young people are becoming one of the promising talent reserves. Minors adapt to the digital environment faster, learn new skills more easily and integrate into work processes, the expert explained.

Due to the shortage of personnel in the mass segments of the economy, business is actively attracting schoolchildren to simple positions in order to close the summer need for staff, explained the Deputy General Director of "Work.<url>", Alexander Veterkov, Chief Operating Officer of Sberpodbor.

In summer, the demand for employees in delivery, catering, trade, warehouses and for organizing events is traditionally growing, said Vladimir Chernov, analyst at Freedom Finance Global. For such vacancies, employers often do not require high qualifications, but they need people for temporary employment. In such conditions, teenagers become a convenient talent pool for businesses to take on massive positions. Izvestia asked the Ministry of Labor for a comment on whether the agency records the interest of companies in the employment of young people.

Why do children need to work in the summer

Teenagers themselves are also interested in work. According to the data hh.ru The applicant activity of minors increased by a third from March to April–May: the number of resumes increased from 66 thousand to 88 thousand. However, this does not mean that children enter the labor market en masse, says Ivan Kravchenko, a junior researcher at the INSAP Center of the IPEI Presidential Academy. In fact, only about 2-3% of young people aged 15 to 17 are employed in the economy, he estimated.

— In many ways, we are not talking about real employment, but rather about trying to "probe" the market in advance, declare ourselves and understand what opportunities there are in the future, — Ivan Kravchenko explained.

According to him, artificial intelligence has also influenced demand: today it is possible to make a resume in just a few minutes, so many perceive it as an experiment. Despite the abundance of "working" vacancies, schoolchildren are increasingly focusing on digital and creative fields — they are attracted to the positions of SMM managers, content managers, copywriters, web designers and programmers, Alexander Veterkov added.

For many children, a part—time job is also an opportunity to gain financial independence: someone is saving up for large purchases, someone wants to support their family, and someone wants to feel like an adult for the first time, says Yulia Kuznetsova, head of the Laboratory of Meanings. An additional incentive is the proliferation of vacancies with flexible schedules that allow you to combine part-time work with study and leisure. In addition, as noted in the SuperJob press service, the demographic factor has also influenced: the number of 14-17-year-olds in Russia is increasing.

However, it is important for employers to remember that the length of the working day for minors is fixed by law.:

  • Teenagers between the ages of 14 and 15 can work four hours.;
  • Five hours — between the ages of 15 and 16;

  • seven hours — between the ages of 16 and 17.

In addition, labor legislation prohibits the involvement of minors in heavy, harmful and dangerous work, as well as activities related to alcohol, tobacco products, night clubs and other areas that can harm the moral development of a child, explained lawyer, member of the Union of Lawyers and Bloggers Evgeniya Sabitova.

At the same time, the regulation of adolescent labor has been simplified in recent years. For example, starting from September 1, 2025, the legislation allowed them to work on weekends and holidays, added Anastasia Gorelkina, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC HC Siberian Business Union, member of the Board of Directors of JSC Azot.

It is important for teenagers to understand the difference between types of employment, because they are often issued in earnest. Official employment provides seniority, sick leave and insurance guarantees — this is the best option for summer part-time work, Anastasia Gorelkina emphasized.

Self—employment (from the age of 14 with parental consent) is suitable for those who already have a specific skill, such as design, photography, video editing, tutoring, baking, and needlework, said Vladimir Chernov of Freedom Finance Global. However, it is important to remember that this format does not provide labor guarantees and pension points, Anastasia Gorelkina clarified.

If a teenager is offered such a way to formalize an employment relationship for permanent work, then this is most often an attempt by the employer to reduce the cost of taxes and mandatory payments, she added. In this case, it is better to clarify the conditions or look for another option.

In addition, minors from the age of 14 can apply for sole proprietorship, but this status requires more accountability, responsibility and compliance with tax rules, added Vladimir Chernov. For temporary part-time work or summer employment, this is usually not the best option. As Izvestia wrote earlier, today more than 3,500 people are registered in the country. Sole proprietor is under 18 years old.

Early work experience helps teenagers gain skills that are not taught in school, such as responsibility, communication skills and time management, Yulia Kuznetsova noted. In addition, it becomes the first step towards financial literacy. However, during exams and admission, it is better to give priority to studies, and to gain experience, choose short-term projects or internships in order to maintain a balance between work and preparation for a future profession.1
