Dolphins stranded on the shore are rescued in Sevastopol
In Sevastopol, volunteers are conducting an operation to rescue two white-bellied dolphins that have washed ashore. It happened in the area of the Cossack Bay.
The animals were given the names Demeter and Persephone, in honor of the ancient Greek goddess of fertility and her daughter. Specialists monitor their condition around the clock.
IA SevastopolMedia, referring to the dolphin rehabilitation center "Serene Sea", writes that an adult female was diagnosed with inflammation. She is receiving intensive care, including antibiotics. At the same time, the animal retains its appetite, the dolphin eats up to 7 kg of fish per day. However, she is still unable to keep her body in the water on her own, so she constantly needs the help of volunteers.
A young female, presumably the daughter of an adult dolphin, is also actively feeding, her condition is more stable, she has already started swimming nearby on her own, briefly moving away from her mother.
Earlier, Svetlana Akulova, general director of the Moscow Zoo, announced the launch of a large-scale campaign to save 80 hippos from Colombia. The population of animals, which are descendants of animals from the personal zoo of drug lord Pablo Escobar, is currently under threat of destruction.
