Sales of new Suzuki cars in Russia increased by 222%
In January – April of this year, 544 new Suzuki cars were registered in Russia. This is 3.2 times (+222%) more than was registered in the country in the first four months of last year, when 169 Japanese-made cars were registered. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on May 29.
According to his calculations, three quarters of the demand (76%) was for the Suzuki Jimny SUV (416 units), and the second most popular model was the Suzuki Fronx compact crossover (65 units).
About half of Suzuki cars came to Russia from India, while the rest were imported from the Japanese market.
As the analyst noted, Suzuki is one of the few foreign brands that have not left Russia. Official deliveries of new cars to the Russian Federation have been suspended since 2022, but 16 dealer contracts have been retained and the company's Russian press service is still operating, which sends press releases to the media about the success of the global concern.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that 2,789 new Toyota vehicles were registered in Russia in April, which is 70% more than in April last year. These results are explained by the low base of last year and a significant increase in alternative imports. More than 90% of Toyota vehicles enter the country from the Chinese car market.
