Having received a warning about the restriction of imports of certain types of its fruit and vegetable products to the Russian Federation, Yerevan began negotiations with Moscow in an attempt to resolve the situation. This was announced on May 29 by representatives of the food safety inspection body of the republic.

"The head of the inspection body has already started negotiations, we will find out what the problem is, and in accordance with this we will try to resolve the situation," Sputnik Armenia quotes the text of the message.

It is emphasized that the results reached by the parties at the end of the interaction will be published in the near future.

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Reshetnikov, on May 29, answering a question from Izvestia, assured that restrictions on the import of goods from Armenia would not have an impact on domestic markets. He explained this by saying that the products sold by Yerevan are mostly "niche".

The temporary restrictions will take effect on Saturday, May 30. The Rosselkhoznadzor clarified that the measures will apply to tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green crops and strawberries. The ministry explained that during inspections, violations and inconsistencies with the standards of both Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were identified in the listed products.
