Ukraine sentenced singer Povaliy to 12 years in prison

The Vinnytsia City Court sentenced singer Taisiya Povaliy in absentia to 12 years in prison with confiscation of all her property. This was announced on May 29 in the press service of the office of the Prosecutor General of the country.

"Taisiya Povaliy was sentenced to 12 years in prison with confiscation of all property. Property rights to his musical works have also been transferred to the state," the Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that the court found the performer guilty of "collaborative activities" in support of a special military operation (SVO). In addition to the prison term, Povaliy was sentenced to a ban on holding certain positions for 15 years.

Povaliy was charged in absentia under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as early as February 15, 2024. Eight months later, information appeared about the confiscation of the singer's copyrights, which she owned over nine compositions. Later, on February 6, 2025, the case of the performer, in particular the indictment, was transferred to the court.
