A cold snap is coming to the Trans-Baikal Territory. Frosts are forecast for the period from 1 to 3 June. The temperature will drop to minus values.

Up to -5 degrees is expected in some places, writes ChitaMedia news agency with reference to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region. The Crisis Management Center has sent relevant recommendations to local governments and cooperating structures. They were advised to take measures to reduce the effects of frost.

Residents of the region, including gardeners and agricultural producers, are advised to take care of planting in advance, including using a covering material to protect the plants.

In addition, care must be taken when using electrical appliances, stoves, and heaters.

Earlier, Roman Oparin, associate professor of the Department of General Biology and Bioecology at the State University of Education, said that the cold snap in May with nighttime temperatures of about +4... +7 degrees could seriously slow down the development of heat-loving crops and affect future harvests. The expert named cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, zucchini, pumpkins, watermelons and melons as the most sensitive to sudden temperature changes.
