The Ministry of Transport proposed to introduce a special sign for parking large families

The Russian Ministry of Transport shared initiatives to improve transport accessibility for families traveling with children. The agency plans to introduce a special road sign for parking large families, as well as conducting an experiment to provide them with discounts on taxi services. This was reported on the Ministry's website on May 29.

In addition, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrey Nikitin signed an order approving the standard of mother and child rooms, as well as children's play areas at transport infrastructure facilities. The document provides for three levels of approach to equipping the premises, depending on the type of facility and passenger traffic. The basic level with a changing table and the opportunity to purchase baby hygiene products is for facilities where people spend a small amount of time or whose passenger traffic is low.

The standard level includes a space consisting of two feeding areas (separate capsules where the mother can retire) and one common play area for children under six years old.

For large transport hubs, there are four zones in the mother and child's room (swaddling and hygiene, feeding, sleeping, family toilet), as well as a children's play area by age: up to three years and from three to six years.

Currently, 189 airports in the country are equipped with 211 mother and child rooms, and many have children's play areas. There are currently 306 mother and child rooms at railway stations, as well as children's play areas (almost all major railway stations on the Russian Railways network).

The death rate in road accidents is planned to be reduced by one and a half times by 2030.

The day before, it was reported that since the beginning of this year, more than 4,000 compact road signs have been installed on 24 streets in Moscow, and this year such signs will be installed at almost 280 addresses. As explained in the Department of Transport of the capital, compact road signs perform the same functions as standard ones, but at the same time they fit better into the urban environment and reduce visual noise.
