The Moscow–Dushanbe train, which was suspended in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, will resume travel from June 21 this year. This was announced on May 29 by the press service of Russian Railways.

"At the request of the railway administration of the Republic of Tajikistan and by agreement of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, direct rail service between Moscow and Dushanbe has been restored," the company's Telegram channel says.

Passenger train No. 423/424 will run once every two weeks. The train will depart from Dushanbe on Sundays from June 21 at 3:25 a.m. local time (1:25 a.m. Moscow time) and arrive in Moscow on Wednesday at 22:08 a.m. Moscow time. The first flight from the Russian capital is scheduled for June 25. The train will depart from Paveletsky Railway Station on Thursdays at 6:05 a.m. and arrive in Dushanbe on Mondays at 2:48 a.m. local time (00:48 a.m. Moscow time).

The travel time will be about four days, according to Russian Railways. The route will pass through the territory of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia. The train will make stops in Bukhara, Nukus, Kungrad, Aktobe, Kazakhstan, as well as in Orenburg, Samara, Penza and other cities.

It is noted that the train will include reserved and compartment cars. The sale of tickets for the flight from Dushanbe has already been opened, and it will be possible to purchase travel documents from Moscow in the near future.

On May 18, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Tajik counterpart Sirodjiddin Muhriddin confirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries at a meeting in Moscow. The ministers discussed a number of aspects of Russian-Tajik relations, as well as recent commemorative ceremonies.
