VTB broker noted the growing interest of investors in investments
With a deposit rate of 10-12%, more than half of Russians are ready to add investments to the portfolio. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by VTB My Investments on the eve of SPIEF 2026.
According to VTB broker, 82% of Russians have savings. At the same time, the majority still choose classic instruments - savings accounts with interest on the balance (56%) and deposits (41%). However, 18% combine deposits with investments, placing funds in stocks, bonds and funds through a brokerage account.
The easing of the monetary policy of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation is changing the behavior of depositors, the VTB broker noted. At a rate of about 12%, about 27% of Russians are willing to supplement their savings with investments, while another 28% of respondents are willing to do so at a level of about 10%.
"The share of households involved in the capital market will grow, as will the weight of investment instruments in their personal finances," said Dmitry Melnikov, head of Investment Advisory at VTB My Investments. He stressed that the cycles of normalization of rates have historically become a period when private investors are more actively forming portfolios, and the time factor in the market plays a significant role in the long-term result.
When choosing tools to expand their portfolio, Russians primarily focus on the stock market, VTB broker noted. Stocks lead the way (34%), followed by real estate (32%), gold and other precious metals (31%), as well as government and corporate bonds (29%).
At the same time, 36% of respondents are ready to invest up to 10% of their savings in investment instruments, 31% — from 10% to 30%, and another 11% — from 30% to 50%. The main barriers remain not so much market conditions as psychological factors and lack of knowledge. Russians most often turn to bank consultants and brokers (42%) and those familiar with investment experience (36%) to find recommendations. One in four (25%) is already ready to use an AI assistant in a banking application.
