Turkey has become the leader of summer holidays with children abroad

Turkey has retained its leadership among foreign destinations for summer holidays with children, and China has entered the top five most popular countries, displacing Spain. This was reported to Izvestia on June 3 by analysts of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service based on the results of a study of foreign hotel bookings for the summer of 2026.

According to the service, the share of foreign trips with children remains stable. In the summer of 2026, other countries account for 26% of all hotel orders, compared with 27% a year earlier. At the same time, families began to book hotels for a shorter period of time: the average duration of an overseas trip decreased from 5.3 to five days.

At the same time, the average cost of living decreased. In 2026, families choose foreign hotels for an average of 21.2 thousand rubles per night compared to 22.6 thousand rubles last summer.

Turkey remains the most sought-after destination, with its share growing almost one and a half times to 18.8%. China came in second place with a share of 7.6%, interest in which increased by 88%. The top five countries also included Thailand with 6.6%, France with 6.3% and Italy with 5.5%.

Among the popular destinations, the longest family trips in the summer of 2026 are planned to Hungary, where the average vacation time is 8.1 days. This is followed by Vietnam with 7.8 days, Greece with 7.6 days, Abkhazia with 7.4 days and Italy with 6.3 days. A year earlier, Spain was the leader in the length of family holidays, where trips lasted an average of 9.2 days.

"The demand for the countries of Eastern Europe and the Balkans has grown the most. Romania and Latvia have become absolute record holders, where the interest from family tourists has increased more than fivefold," the analysts noted.

Elena Kosheleva, Director of Sberbank Insurance projects, said on May 13 that with the onset of the warm season, Russians are more likely to travel around the country and abroad, but even a carefully planned vacation can be complicated by flight delays, baggage loss, or health problems. According to her, in preparation for the trip, first of all, it is necessary to think over the program in advance.
