In the city of Nakhodka, Primorsky Krai, a five-year-old girl drowned in an artificial pond. A criminal case has been opened, according to the SU IC of Russia.

The tragedy occurred on Thursday, May 27, on the territory of a household on Gornaya Street, where there is an artificial reservoir. A five-year-old girl went to the water on her own and decided to swim.

"Due to age immaturity, the girl was unable to take measures for self-preservation and drowned. The investigators conducted an inspection of the scene, a complex of investigative actions is being carried out," the report says.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing death by negligence." The circumstances of the tragedy are being established, writes PrimaMedia news agency.

Earlier in May, it was reported that the body of a child born in 2013 was found in the Pyshma River in the Sverdlovsk region. Operational and investigative measures are being carried out.
