The June film premieres are full of class contradictions: the rich pay their moral bills in the psychological drama "Birthday" starring Willem Dafoe, they cry in the comedy "Serf 3" starring Milos Bikovic, the poor win back their right to life in the metaphysical drama "The Wind". And only in the face of a global epidemic is everyone equal: a thriller by South Korean director Yong Sang-ho, creator of "Train to Busan," will tell about it. Izvestia reports on the most interesting film premieres in June.

For family films with animals, which are certainly loved by audiences of all ages (although not everyone admits this), it was time to take a closer look: the genre is not easy, of course, but it is not Russia with Vladimir Durov's traditions to be afraid of it. But the story with "Denis and Mani" is even more interesting: they are really best friends who have lived together all their lives, and besides, they are also Internet stars with considerable experience. The owners of the cat and the dog have long maintained their pages on social networks, which collect 150 million views per month, and the number of their subscribers exceeds six million. Now Denis and Manny's online audience is simply obliged to make up the box office for the film, but even if the inhabitants of the Network do not want to go out into the real world, its fate will surely turn out well: a funny plot, unobtrusive humor and, most importantly, the charm of Denis and Manny will undoubtedly attract not only children, but also their parents to cinemas.

"Birthday party"

June 4th

A powerful tycoon on his own island in the Mediterranean is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his daughter Sofia, who, after the death of her older brother, remained the sole heiress to a gigantic fortune. The scale of the celebration amazes even the rich and famous guests who are accustomed to everything, but neither they nor the birthday girl herself yet know that the main goal of the organizer of the celebration is to destroy her secret romance. However, Sofia herself has other plans, and the holiday party turns into a confrontation of characters in which there will be no winners.

The script is based on the novel of the same name by the Greek writer Panos Karnezis, inspired by the biography of Aristotle Onassis, who turned from a refugee without rights and documents into one of the richest people in the world. The novel, however, had to be reworked a lot.: Through the efforts of the screenwriters, the historical saga of the fates of three generations has become a dense psychological drama about power, love and freedom. The film crew gathered internationally: director Miguel Angel Jimenez is a Spaniard, the performer of the role of Sofia is Danish Victoria Carmen Sonn, the tycoon was played by the star Willem Dafoe from Hollywood. It would seem that how can they understand Greek sadness? Nevertheless, everything worked out perfectly: Defoe even looks remarkably similar to Onassis. Having played many villains, corrupt politicians and bad cops over a long career, Defoe seems to have grown to a new level: the bestial charisma and ruthless will of the tycoon seem to threaten to spill off the screen. It's worth a look.

"The Wind"

June 4th

A mysterious catastrophe has befallen the world, depriving people of their usual way of life and leaving them to survive on a lifeless land in constant search of food. Somewhere on the edge of the universe live the fisherman Ivan Morozov and his beloved wife Katya. Ivan promises Katya to go to the sea and get groceries, money and a beautiful dress. Along the way, he accidentally meets Sergei, who also went out for loot with a gun in his hands — and then they move on together. The path through the Russian timelessness will end, as usual, at the point of a final and irrevocable choice, having made which, in any case, Ivan will no longer be able to live as before.

Many critics consider "The Wind" to be the main Russian premiere of the year. The film was directed by Sergey Chliyants, a successful producer ("Boomer", "Mama, Don't Grieve"), who returned to the director's chair after more than 30 years of work to shoot his second film based on the script by Peter Lutsik and Alexey Samoryadov, singers of the Russian abyss, once upon a time in The Outskirts and Wild Field They documented with documentary dispassion how the fabric of reality is spreading, leaving a void in its place. Sergei Chliyants enters this void without trepidation, perhaps because he sees hope there, beyond the edge. For him, according to the director's own admission, "The Wind" is "a saga about Russia, about the people, about faith and the search for God." The film won the main prize of the Spirit of Fire festival and five Nika awards, including the award for best film. "The Wind" is a serious movie, if that doesn't scare you off, then it's definitely worth watching.

"Serf 3"

June 11th

The method of educating responsible members of society from majors, having proved its effectiveness in the first two films of the franchise, confidently got on stream, turning into a successful business of making cherubs from pigs. The reformed Grisha, played by the same Milos Bikovich, is engaged in business. He is now the head of reeducation projects: no doubt for the same psychological reasons that a passerby who slips on a banana peel is secretly looking forward to another sucker stepping on the ill—fated peel. However, this time Makarenko's new heir will have a more difficult task: he will have to re-educate the whole family, or rather, only its adult members: two children came to the benefactors with a complaint about their rich parents, who are scandalizing day and night, not giving their own children a minute's peace. It was decided to throw the parents (their roles were played by Kristina Asmus and Pavel Priluchny) into the era of Peter I and send them to fight with the Swedes — and if the not yet fully reformed ex-majors confuse Sweden with Turkey, then no one is to blame!

At first glance, it seems that the franchise is running out of steam: jokes with a cactus in the belly, a plate in the face and "wai-wai calavera" when the costumed sultan looks at the blonde have definitely been somewhere before. But if you think about it, this is not a problem: in the third "Serf", as in its predecessors, the outfits are bright, the gags change each other so quickly that you don't have time to think about their quality, and the educated squeal very funny every time, for example, they fall into the sea almost on the back of a shark. And the main thing, of course, is that the general public will never get tired of watching pompous majors lose all their luster and whine comically when they get a whip on the spine. So much for them, the nasty ones!

"Colony"

June 18

An outbreak of an unknown virus is taking place in the city, and shoppers at the mall are trapped in the building because there are infected people among them. The virus is developing rapidly: at any moment, an ordinary person can turn into an aggressive zombie, ready to tear apart those who happen to be nearby. A trapped group of random people find themselves alone with the victims of the virus who have lost their minds, and the only hope for the still healthy is to get outside and share with the authorities who ordered the blocking of the shopping center information that can save humanity...

Ten years ago, director Yong Sang-ho released his first thriller about a deadly virus that turns people into zombies, "Train to Busan," combining a detached popular science approach to the epidemic with a hard—driving action and intense emotions in a group of victims looking for a way to escape. The recipe turned out to be successful: "Train to Busan" won many awards at Asian festivals, became the most popular South Korean film in the Southeast Asian countries, and was very favorably received on the European film market. Now the director seems determined to consolidate his success. And although the trick, repeated twice, loses some of its charm, perhaps Yong Sang-ho managed to find a couple of unexpected moves that will help him re-fill the hearts of the audience with suspense.

"The karate kid"

At the school where Sasha goes, no one wants to be friends with him, the school bully Marat attacks him, forbidding him to communicate with the most beautiful girl in the class, and Marat's backup singers, wanting to curry favor with their leader, are only happy to attack the whole crowd on one. Sasha's salvation is becoming a new hobby — karate. Strict sensei Dmitry and his daughter Masha help the boy take the first steps in a new sport, believe in himself and gain inner strength that will allow Sasha not only to cope with abusers, but also to become a champion.

If you replace names and geographical names in the previous paragraph, you can easily fall into error: the difficult vicissitudes of a boy's life in a new place of residence, from which he is saved by a wise master and his beautiful daughter, have been vividly described in the popular Karate Kid franchise with Pat Morita since 1984, and since 2010 with Jackie Chan as the master mentor. Of course, all films about the sports careers of young and early champions — even in shooting, even in wrestling — are built according to a single pattern. But there is another problem. Miron Provorov, who played Sasha, was preparing for an acting career from a young age, practicing everything that could be useful to an artist, from playing the guitar to martial arts. The latter, perhaps, may explain why he was the one who passed the casting. Alas, his small stature combined with the image of a fairy-tale elf makes it difficult to trust his transformation into a tough guy. But a simple boy's haircut could have saved the situation, especially since it was much easier to grab Myron's trademark curls in a fight. Tell him, sensei!
