On May 28, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region adopted in two readings a bill banning the retail sale of gasoline, diesel fuel, and paint and varnish materials to minors.

"The initiative is due to cases of minors being involved in illegal activities related to arson of property using various flammable liquids," said regional prosecutor Alexander Buchman, his words are quoted on the website of the legislative assembly.

Amendments are being made to the regional law on the Protection of Children's Rights. Teenagers will not be able to buy gasoline, diesel, organic solvents, varnishes, paints and enamels. An exception is provided for persons over the age of 16 who have a driver's license.

Another reason for the ban is the need to prevent accidents involving children and teenagers so that they cannot refuel vehicles on their own.

On April 23, at the initiative of United Russia, a law was passed in the Moscow Region prohibiting the sale of fuels and lubricants to minors. The new rules are aimed at reducing the number of accidents involving teenagers on sports motorcycles. An exception is also provided only for teenagers who have a driver's license for driving mopeds or light motorcycles.
