Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed a huge number of issues during an informal meeting on May 27. This was announced on May 28 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"I can say that <...> they managed to discuss a huge number of substantive issues," Peskov told Channel One.

It is noted that the leaders held an informal friendly lunch and had a one-on-one conversation.

On May 27, Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit. The Russian leader was personally met by the President of Kazakhstan with an honor guard. A day later, Putin noted that the Russian-Kazakh talks on May 28 were productive and efficient. He added that he had discussed current international issues with the Kazakh leader. In addition, the parties signed 16 documents, including a joint statement on the seven foundations of friendship and good neighborliness of the peoples of Russia.

Tokayev, in turn, said that relations between Russia and Kazakhstan have passed the test of time, and now the countries are facing the challenges of a new era. He noted that the cooperation between the two countries is based on large-scale joint projects and brings practical benefits to the peoples of both countries.
