In the Novosibirsk region, a man chased an ex-girlfriend through a GPS tracker

In Berdsk, Novosibirsk region, the prosecutor's office has approved an indictment against a 43-year-old local resident who is suspected of illegally collecting information about the private life of his ex-girlfriend. This was reported on May 28 by the regional prosecutor's office.

According to investigators, from September to December 2025, the accused installed a GPS tag on the 41-year—old victim's car. The device was attached to the body of the machine in an inconspicuous and hard-to-reach place. The man synchronized the sensor with his mobile phone and secretly monitored the movements of the vehicle.

The investigators qualified the actions of the defendant under Part 1 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal collection of information about a person's private life, constituting his personal secret, without his consent). The supervisory authority stressed that such actions violate article 23 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which guarantees the right to privacy.

The criminal case has been sent to the Berdsk City Court for consideration on the merits. The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to two years.
