Shoigu urged Venezuela not to participate in arms supplies to Ukraine
Russia expects that Venezuela will not participate in arms supply schemes to Ukraine and will reject such proposals from Western countries. This was announced on May 27 by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu.
"We are aware of the activity of Western emissaries who are trying to involve Latin American states in various schemes for the supply of weapons in the interests of the Kiev regime," he said at a meeting with Secretary General of the Venezuelan National Defense Council Jose Adelino Ornelas Ferreira, RIA Novosti reports.
Shoigu expressed the hope that Caracas would reject such initiatives and inform the Russian side about such attempts. The Secretary of the Security Council also noted that the Venezuelan armed forces have a significant number of Soviet and Russian-made military equipment.
In addition, Shoigu said that Russia supports Venezuela's right to independently determine its policy and make decisions taking into account national interests and sovereignty.
Bulgarian MP Angel Georgiev said on May 26 that the country had made a mistake by supplying weapons for the needs of the Kiev regime. The politician noted that local media focus on the situation around Ukraine, but at the same time forget about the situation in Africa, where conflicts also lead to casualties. According to him, this is manipulation and distortion of information.
