- Residents of Starobilsk called the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on the college dormitory inhumane
The attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a college and student dormitory in Starobilsk was a huge blow to all residents of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) and the Russian Federation as a whole. This was stated to Izvestia on May 27 by a local resident who came to honor the memory of the victims.
"The guys who were there at the time of this inhuman attack by the Ukrainian fascists lived their lives. Some have just celebrated their coming of age. They just lived, studied, made plans for the future, and wanted to start families. And it turned out that the inhuman Ukrainian government took all their dreams, all their plans for the future, and simply cut them off in one moment," he explained.
Another woman added that the children who died during the attack were her peers, and anyone could be in their place.
"This is one hundred percent inhumanity. To lie that this dormitory was a military facility — I don't know how much you need to have no conscience," she stressed.
On the eve of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Ukraine had not only attacked the hostel in Starobilsk, but also mocked it. The diplomat drew attention to the messages in Ukrainian public media, which "almost glowed with joy" due to the fact that children were attacked. In addition, she called the attack immoral, inhumane and illegal.
On May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the academic building and the dormitory of the Starobilsk College. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). 21 people were killed in the attack, and 65 others were injured. The names of all the victims of the terrorist attack have been established. In the LPR, May 24 and 25 were declared days of mourning for the dead.
