The election of deputies to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in 2026 will be the most difficult election campaign in recent years. This was announced on May 27 by the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, at a meeting of the Central Election Commission.

"It will be the most difficult campaign not only this year. This is probably the most difficult campaign in recent years," she said.

Pamfilova noted that she reminds her CEC colleagues about this every time and called on them to pay the utmost attention to the upcoming elections.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted on April 21 that the September 2026 elections would be held in difficult conditions. He also expressed confidence that all attempts to harm will be stopped, and voters will give preference to constructive political programs and ideas, patriots and people of cause.

On April 1, Pamfilova, during a meeting of the new CEC staff with the President of the Russian Federation, pointed out that the Russian electoral system had proven its reliability and stability in the context of a special military operation. She added that the main efforts of the CEC are directed inland, to increase confidence in the domestic elections.
