In the future, the limit on CTP payments in Russia should not be increased, but completely abolished, so that compulsory insurance fully covers damage from an accident. This opinion was expressed by Sergey Yefremov, Vice-president of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS).

"We must come to the conclusion that there should be no limit at all," Yefremov said on the sidelines of the international conference of the Armed Forces, RIA Novosti reports.

The Vice-President of the VCC drew attention to the fact that in most insurance cases in the Russian Federation, damage to vehicles is above the established payment thresholds. He cited the example of the experience of Europe, where such limits are not set. According to Yefremov, the movement towards unlimited CTP should be phased in: tariffs will take into account the insurance history of each driver and will become more individual.

The RSA believes that Russian drivers are already ready to expand the limits with a subsequent increase in the cost of insurance. The existing limits are no longer enough for them, as evidenced by the growing demand for extended coverage, which car owners buy themselves. However, not everyone does this, as a result, the perpetrators of the accident have to pay very significant amounts to the victims, said the vice-president of the VSS.

Currently, the maximum amount of compensation for damage to property under CTP is 400 thousand rubles, and the limit on compensation for damage to the health and life of victims is 500 thousand rubles.

The day before, it was reported that on May 26, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation declared unconstitutional the practice in which insurance companies were responsible for failed car repairs in excess of 400 thousand rubles. The resolution of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation states that the unconditional right to repairs at the expense of the insurer, if the estimate of the cost of repairs according to the Central Bank's methodology did not exceed the insured amount, regardless of the market value of the repair, contradicts the goals of ensuring a balance of rights.
