When encountering a brown bear, it is necessary to increase the distance to the animal and not try to run away, as well as try to visually appear larger in order to reduce the risk of an attack. Ekaterina Blidchenko, senior researcher at the Directorate of the Land of the Leopard Nature Reserves, told about this on May 27.

"When meeting any wild animal, it is necessary to keep a distance from the psychological comfort of the animal, on average it is about 100 m. The greater the distance to the animal, the less risk it will exhibit defensive behavior," the source told RIA Novosti.

Blidchenko stressed that the outcome of a meeting with a brown bear depends on human behavior, so it is important not to provoke the animal and not cause aggression. When a predator appears, it is recommended to retreat slowly, increasing the distance, not to run away or turn your back, so as not to provoke pursuit. The specialist also noted that a person should visually "enlarge" himself and speak clearly and confidently in order to make the beast alert.

She added that when meeting in a populated area, the rules are similar: you can not run, you need to keep your distance and, if possible, go into hiding, and when a bear appears in the yard, immediately enter the room. According to her, if an animal enters a populated area, this may indicate a decrease in fear of humans, so it is necessary to inform the hunting supervision.

On April 25, the administration of the rural settlement of Trusovo in the Komi Republic reported a bear attack on a human. The incident occurred on the territory of the settlement, where the appearance of a predator was recorded. Local authorities have warned residents to be careful and attentive.
