The new constitution of Kazakhstan meets the spirit of the times, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted on May 27 in his article "Russia — Kazakhstan: Union in the Heart of Eurasia", published in the newspaper Kazakhstanskaya Pravda.

"Your republic recently adopted a new Constitution that meets the spirit of the times and is future—oriented," Putin stressed.

He noted that the citizens of the country who voted for the adoption of the new constitution expressed their approval of the course pursued by the President of Kazakhstan aimed at developing the state, strengthening the economy and spiritual and moral development.

"I am convinced that all these large—scale transformations will be successful and will actually contribute to strengthening the state and increasing people's well-being," Putin said.

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced on May 26 that Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan is scheduled for May 28-29. The trip is timed to coincide with the EurAsEC summit in Astana and the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
