- The United States has given Poland preliminary permission to produce missiles for the Patriot
Poland has received preliminary approval from the United States to produce missiles for the Patriot air defense systems. This was announced on May 26 by Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cesary Tomczyk.
"The missiles are planned to be produced at enterprises of the Polish defense industry. From a military point of view, this would be an important capability for us," Polish radio station RMF24 quoted him as saying.
Tomchik also noted that initially Washington was skeptical about the fact that "the belt and Road launched the production of interceptor missiles." However, after the visit of the Polish delegation to the United States, the State Department approved these plans.
The military official explained that Warsaw buys most of the components abroad and wants the production lines to be located inside the country. The authors of the material suggest that Poland will produce PAC-3 MSE interceptor missiles, the latest version of this type of ammunition for the Patriot air defense system.
Tomchik announced on May 20 that the United States intends to maintain a high level of military presence in the country. It was clarified that in the coming weeks Washington will discuss with the Polish government the issue of the deployment of the American military. Shortly after, US President Donald Trump announced that an additional 5,000 American troops would be deployed to Poland.
