The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, criticized the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for statements related to the situation around drone incidents in the Baltic States. He expressed his opinion on May 26 on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"While the Baltic countries have been under attack by Ukrainian drones for several weeks now, von der Leyen is today traveling to one of them, Lithuania, to ... condemn Russia," Philippot wrote.

According to the politician, such rhetoric contributes to the growth of tension in Europe.

Prior to that, on May 21, the Latvian Ministry of Defense reported that at least one unidentified UAV had been spotted in the republic's airspace. An air alert was issued in three districts and one region of the country. Due to the incident, NATO fighters were put on alert.

On May 17, Finnish political analyst Sakari Linden called on the Baltic states and Finland to destroy Ukrainian drones when they cross the airspace of these countries. In his opinion, these states, if they do not want to shoot down Ukrainian drones, should stop financial support for Kiev.
