The Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council announced the sponsorship of terrorists by a number of Western countries

Some Western states transfer modern weapons and intelligence data to representatives of radical groups in order to use them later to their advantage. This was announced on May 26 by Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, during a speech at the International Security Forum.

"Some Western countries not only do not fight the radicals, but also actively use them for their own purposes. Modern weapons are being transferred to terrorists, and advanced surveillance and intelligence equipment are being provided. Intelligence information is being supplied," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council, the actions of Western states indicate a rejection of the real fight against extremist threats in favor of realizing their own interests through destabilization of the situation in various regions. As an example, he cited the situation that is currently developing in Mali.

The situation in the African Republic remains tense — there are losses in the Russian unit.

At the end of April, terrorists carried out coordinated attacks on some military installations and settlements in Mali. Then the army representatives managed to eliminate at least 80 criminals and keep the situation under full control of the authorities.

The Russian Foreign Ministry did not rule out that these attacks could have been carried out with the support of the West. In particular, representatives of this region could help terrorists in their training. Three days after these events, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called it important for Mali to return to stability.
