BAZ announced the expansion of the line of off-road trucks
Russian truck manufacturer Romanov JSC (BAZ brand) will expand the model range of its vehicles. Dmitry Lebedev, Deputy General Director and Chief Designer of Romanov JSC, told Izvestia about this on May 26 on the sidelines of the Comvex-2026 exhibition in Moscow.
"Next year, we expect to introduce a version of the BAZ truck with an 8x8 wheel formula. In another year, we plan to debut the 4x4 modification," Lebedev shared.
He noted that the new versions, as well as the currently presented modifications with a 6×6 wheel formula, receive a key feature of the BAZ trucks — a completely independent suspension of all wheels. The chief designer stressed that the company will continue to adhere to the production of trucks designed for operation in harsh road conditions.
At the exhibition, the company presented a new version of the machine — a three-axle all-wheel drive logging truck with a manipulator with a maximum permissible weight of 66 tons. The truck is equipped with a 367-horsepower YaMZ engine combined with a nine-speed manual transmission.
The launch of mass production of trucks and off-road chassis BASES was announced on December 26 last year. The machines are manufactured at the Romanov production site in St. Petersburg. The company plans to produce up to 600 trucks in 2026. The maximum capacity that the company expects until 2028 is 1,400 units per year when working in two shifts.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that AvtoVAZ's SKM brand line will soon be replenished with the new M9 model. It is planned to be produced at production sites in Nizhny Novgorod and Tolyatti. The model will be presented in four versions: seven- and eight-seater minivans, a nine-seater minibus and a van.
Also at the Comvex exhibition, the Belarusian automobile plant MAZ showed a new line of Targo trucks, and the premiere of the off-road version of the GAZ Sobol minibus took place. In addition, GAZ Group presented a promising modular low-tonnage platform for light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
