In Tatarstan, a small vessel collided with a pier on the Kama River, killing one person and injuring another. This was announced on May 26 by the Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office.

"According to preliminary data, on the morning of May 26, 2026, a small vessel collided with a pier on the Kama River at the Vostok boat station in the city of Chistopol. As a result of the incident, the skipper was killed and the passenger was injured," the department said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

The Deputy Tatar Transport Prosecutor and the investigative task force went to the scene of the incident. All the circumstances and causes of the incident are currently being established. The Supervisory Authority verifies compliance with legislation on the safety of navigation.

The Central Interregional Investigative Department for Transport (MCT) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, in turn, is conducting a pre-investigation check under the article on violations of traffic safety rules and operation of water transport.

In St. Petersburg, on May 5, a speedboat crashed into a fence located at the junction of the Griboyedov Canal and the Moika River. It was clarified that when representatives of the emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, its participants were not there — two of them managed to escape, and another one sailed away in an unknown direction.
