- The scientist explained the peculiarity of the eruptions of the Shiveluch volcano
The Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka erupts according to its typical scenario, ash emissions occur almost every day. This was announced on May 26 by the head of the volcano station in the village of Klyuchi, Yuri Demyanchuk.
"Shiveluch continues to "work", ash emissions occur almost daily, but we can say that the eruption follows a typical scenario for this volcano. Interestingly, the new lava dome, which began to form intensively on the western slope of the Shiveluch volcano at the end of 2025, has already exceeded the Young Shiveluch by 60-70 m in height," the scientist said.
On the morning of May 26, the volcano spewed ash up to a height of 6 km. However, this activity is recorded only by instruments — the volcano itself is currently closed from visual observation.
Demyanchuk said on April 15 that a permanent thermal anomaly is recorded on the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka — at night there is a glow at the top of the dome.
