Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law extending lease agreements and gratuitous use of land for participants in a special military operation (SVO) for an indefinite period. This was announced on May 25 on the website of the presidential press service.

"It is envisaged that a participant in a special military operation has the right to conclude a new lease agreement for a land plot in state or municipal ownership, or a new contract for the gratuitous use of such a land plot, if the lease agreement or the contract for the gratuitous use of such a land plot is renewed indefinitely," the message says.

It is noted that the condition for this is compliance with the provisions of the previously concluded and renewed agreement.

Earlier that day, Putin also signed a law on debt cancellation for the loan obligations of participants in their military operations who signed a contract for military service from May 1, 2026. The Law comes into force on the day of its official publication.

On May 15, the President also signed a decree that obliges to provide medical care to ITS participants out of turn. In addition, benefits are provided for military personnel and their relatives when visiting cultural and sports institutions.
