In Svetlograd, Stavropol Territory, an employee of the Magnit store brutally dealt with stray kittens who were waiting for new owners near the store. This was reported in the press service of the charity foundation "A piece of happiness for a stray cat" on the social network VKontakte.

It is specified that a resident of the city found a box with kittens and tried to attach the animals through social networks. When the volunteers arrived at the store, the kittens were already dead. An employee of the outlet admitted that she killed the animals by twisting their necks and breaking their spines. It happened on May 24th.

Magnit emphasized that caring for animals is part of its corporate values. They added that the employee was suspended from work, and the dismissal process is underway.

In addition, the retailer apologized to everyone who was hurt by the situation. The company also reminded that visiting with pets is allowed in its stores where it is not prohibited by law.

On January 28, a criminal case was opened in Chelyabinsk on the fact of mass poisoning of dogs. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the case was initiated under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruelty to several animals"). The reason was a media check on the discovery of dozens of dead dogs, during which nine animal corpses with signs of toxic poisoning were found.
