The level of trust of Russians in the police has reached record levels since 2011. This was announced on May 25 by Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev at the first meeting of the new composition of the Public Council at the department.

"Significant work has been done to develop a dialogue between society and the police. The results of the last VTsIOM survey in February of this year showed that 68% of the population currently trust the internal affairs bodies. This is the highest figure since 2011," he said.

Kolokoltsev also warned about attempts by "destructive forces" to sway the situation in the country and said that public leaders, journalists, representatives of religious denominations and cultural figures play a special role in such conditions.

"You are the leaders of public opinion, to whom people listen and follow recommendations. I hope that the council will contribute to strengthening the cohesion of our multinational people," the Minister stressed.

According to him, the new composition of the Public Council should help strengthen traditional values and work with youth. Kolokoltsev added that the Interior Ministry is counting on an open dialogue with society and support for initiatives related to security, prevention of radicalism and patriotic projects.

Anatoly Kucherena, Chairman of the Central Council of the All-Russian Public Movement "Civil Society", was unanimously elected Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the convocation of 2026-2029. His deputies were the rector of the Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MGUA). Viktor Blazheev and Vladimir Tyulin, General Director of the Izvestia Multimedia Information Center. The rector of the Moscow University of Finance and Law (MFUA) became the secretary of the Council Alexey Zabelin.
