There are five patients in the Lugansk Republican Clinical Hospital who were injured by a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a dormitory in Starobilsk, one of them in extremely serious condition. This was announced to Izvestia on May 25 by Dmitry Kotukha, Deputy chief physician of the hospital.

"A patient who is in extremely serious condition <...> who, alas, we had to remove his lower limb to save his life, because, unfortunately, it was no longer viable. In this regard, there is a load on the kidneys, and the patient is on dialysis," Kotukha said.

The remaining four people are on the mend, and they will be discharged soon, the doctor said. Kotukha also recalled that two patients had previously been evacuated to Moscow for treatment, including a 23—year-old boy who is undergoing reconstructive surgery after a foot injury.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strike on Starobilsk had run out of patience, and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were launching successive strikes against facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex (MIC) in Kiev.

On May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the academic building and the dormitory of the Starobilsk College. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). 21 people were killed in the attack, and 65 others were injured. The names of all the victims of the terrorist attack have been established. In the LPR, May 24 and 25 were declared days of mourning for the dead.
