Emergency mode introduced in Khabarovsk Territory due to forest fires

A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Khabarovsk Territory. This is due to forest fires.

The decision to introduce an emergency was made at a meeting of the Commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and fire safety.

As of the morning of May 25, 18 forest fires are active in 13 municipalities of the region. Their total area is more than 25 thousand hectares. 383 specialists and 68 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire. On Monday morning, forest fire groups eliminated one outbreak with an area of 1.6 thousand hectares. Fires do not pose a threat to settlements and economic facilities.

The main cause of forest fires is a violation of fire safety regulations. It has been established that more than half of fires are caused by human fault. In order to prevent this, restrictions on forest visits have been introduced in the region. The measure will be valid until May 31, if necessary, if the situation does not improve, it will be extended, IA AmurMedia writes.

Fines are threatened for violating fire safety in forests. For citizens, they will amount from 40 to 50 thousand rubles, for officials — from 60 to 90 thousand rubles, for legal entities — from 600 thousand to 1 million rubles. Criminal liability occurs in case of destruction or damage of forest plantations. For such an offense, a prison term of up to 10 years is threatened.

Earlier, on May 18, it was reported that a regional emergency regime had been established in the forests of the Amur Region. The reason is the continuing difficult fire situation. Fire hazard class IV operates in 13 municipal districts. A special fire protection regime has been established in 27 municipalities.
