The media reported on the arrest of a gang of car thieves in France

A criminal gang was arrested in France, which managed to steal 27 cars worth about €2 million. This was reported on May 24 by the newspaper Le Figaro, citing a source in the Paris prosecutor's office.

"The criminals did not manage to enjoy their prey for a long time. Just a few days after the spectacular theft of luxury cars in a private parking lot <...>, 21 of the 27 stolen vehicles were returned — including [brand cars] Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati. The damage is estimated at almost €2 million," the publication says.

It is noted that more than 50 robbers participated in the operation, 12 of them were detained.

The Daily Star newspaper reported on May 20 that the death sentence of Richard Glossip, an Oklahoma resident who spent 29 years behind bars and escaped execution three times, was overturned in the United States. According to the newspaper, the man was arrested in January 1997 on charges of organizing the murder of hotelier Barry Van Treese. The businessman was beaten with a baseball bat by a hotel employee Justin Snead. He confessed to the massacre, but stated that the crime was organized by Glossip, who allegedly wanted to hide a large shortage and promised the performer $ 12 thousand.
