- The Russian Armed Forces hit the control points of the ground forces and the GUR of Ukraine
During a massive strike on Kiev and the Kiev region, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) hit the command posts of the ground forces and the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine. This was announced on May 24 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"Among those hit on May 24 during a massive strike in Kiev and the Kiev region <...> are the command posts of the main command of the ground forces, the main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and other command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Maks messenger says.
According to the ministry, Oreshnik ballistic missiles, Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Dagger hypersonic missiles, Zircon cruise missiles, as well as air, sea and land-based cruise missiles and attack drones were used in the strike.
Hitting other military targets
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that civilian infrastructure facilities were not among the targets when strikes were launched on the territory of Ukraine. The ministry stressed that attacks on civilian targets were not planned and were not carried out.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Russian military attacked oil refining, energy and transport infrastructure facilities that were used in the interests of the Ukrainian army. Ammunition and fuel depots, as well as temporary locations for Ukrainian military and foreign mercenaries, were also hit. Operational and tactical aircraft, attack drones, rocket troops and artillery were used to carry out the tasks.
A blow of retribution with a "Hazel tree"
In response to Kiev's terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive retaliatory strike, including the Oreshnik missile system, against Ukrainian military command facilities. In particular, the strike was a response to the terrorist attack in the dormitory of the Starobilsk college of the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR). The Iskander operational and tactical missile system (OTRK), Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles, and others were used.
