Investigators have launched an investigation into the death of Nalchik Mayor Akhokhov.

Investigators have organized an investigation into the death of Nalchik Mayor Taimuraz Akhokhov. This was announced on May 25 by the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

"According to preliminary data, on May 24, Taimuraz Akhokhov, born in 1971, was found without signs of life. An investigation team immediately went to the scene," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

It is clarified that law enforcement officers have launched a set of measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident, including interviewing relatives, colleagues and people from the close circle of the deceased.

The course and results of the inspection are under the personal control of the management of the investigative department.

Akhokhov's death became known on the morning of May 24. He was born in 1971 in the city of Baksan, Kabardino-Balkarian ASSR. Since 1998, he started his work in the tax authorities. He was appointed head of the Nalchik Administration on June 8, 2018. Akhokhov is survived by his wife and three sons. The funeral of Nalchik Mayor Taimuraz Akhokhov will be held on May 25.
