Sobyanin spoke about the introduction of unmanned public transport in Moscow

The introduction of unmanned public transport continues in Moscow. By 2035, it is expected that 90% of the capital's trams will run around the city without a driver, and by 2030 it is planned to launch the first unmanned metro line. This was announced on May 23 by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"By 2030, about 2/3 of the capital's tram fleet will become unmanned, by 2035 - about 90%. <...> By 2030, the first unmanned metro line, BCL, should be launched," he wrote in the Maks messenger.

Sobyanin noted that the Center for Advanced Development of Moscow Transport, which turned two years old, is engaged in the development and implementation of these technologies. The mayor stressed that it was in Moscow that for the first time in the world the regular movement of an unmanned tram with passengers was launched.

According to him, four such trams are already running in the city, which have traveled more than 35 thousand km. By the end of the year, 11 more units of transport will be equipped with unmanned technologies. In addition, in January of this year, the test operation of Russia's first unmanned metro train started: the first passengers will be transported in 2027.

In two years, unmanned vehicles are planned to be released on all highways of the country.

On May 22, Sobyanin announced the opening of Leningradsky Railway Station after a large-scale modernization together with the head of Russian Railways By Oleg Belozerov. The renovated station has become part of the capital's largest transport hub, the Three Stations Square, which is used by more than 350,000 people daily. Three central stations, metro lines, Moscow Central Diameters, as well as land transport routes are combined here.
