Dzyuba announced his retirement from Akron

Akron striker Artyom Dzyuba announced on May 23 after the return play-off match with Volgograd Rotor in Samara that he had finished playing for the Tolyatti team.

The game on Saturday ended with Akron's defeat with a score of 0:1, but in the first meeting the Tolyatti club won 2:0. As a result, the team retained its registration in the RPL. When asked by Sport24 if he himself remains at the club, Dzyuba replied: "No."

The 37-year—old striker is a four-time champion of Russia and the winner of the Super Cup of the country, he won all these titles with Zenit. He also won the Russian Cup twice in the St. Petersburg team.

In 2022, Dzyuba left Zenit and went to Turkish Adana Demirspor, but returned to Russia in November of the same year. In February 2023, he signed a contract with Lokomotiv Moscow, and in September 2024, he became an Akron player. Before joining Zenit, Dzyuba played for Spartak Moscow, of which he is a graduate. He also played on loan for Tom and Rostov.
