More than 231,000 children will be affected by new measures to support large families, allowing them to maintain benefits if the subsistence level exceeds 10%. This was announced on May 23 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

"The measure will affect more than 231,000 children, whose parents will receive payments under the new rule," he is quoted as saying on the State Duma website.

Now parents with many children will be able to keep a monthly allowance in connection with the birth and upbringing of children if the average per capita family income exceeds the subsistence level in the region by no more than 10%, the newspaper explained.Ru». The law will apply to all recipients of social benefits from the beginning of 2026 in an undeclared manner.

Yulia Kovalenko, Deputy Head of the Higher School of Economics of Moscow Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, said on May 22 that large families will be able to keep a single allowance for another 12 months with a slight excess of income. If the family was refused payment in early 2026, the recalculation will be carried out automatically, taking into account the changes.
