People's Artist of the RSFSR Alexander Kalyagin announced the end of his film career

On May 23, Alexander Kalyagin, People's Artist of the RSFSR, artistic director of the Moscow Theater Et Cetera, announced the end of his film career.

Alexander Alexandrovich Kalyagin was born on May 25, 1942 in the village of Malmyzh in the Kirov region. He graduated from medical school and worked as an ambulance paramedic.

After that, Kalyagin entered the Shchukin Theater College. He began his career as an artist at the Taganka Theater, participated in the work of the M.N. Ermolova Theater. Later he joined Sovremennik, and then went to the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked for about 30 years.

Since 1967, he appeared in films. He is known to the audience, among other things, for the role of Babs Baberley in the film "Hello, I'm your aunt!", Vanyukin in the film "A friend among strangers, a stranger among his own", Kolyagin in "Slave of Love" and Chichikov in "Dead Souls".
