Buryatia became a member of the "Gastronomic Map of Russia"
Buryatia will be included in the "Gastronomic Map of Russia" project to promote local cuisine. The cooperation agreement was signed by Alexey Tsydenov, the head of the region, and Ekaterina Shapovalova, the author of the program, at the international forum of creative Industries, UlanMedia news agency reported on Friday, May 22.
The agreements stipulate that Buryat and Russian cuisine dishes will appear in restaurants and tourist sites, including rural areas. Institutions that have passed the project certification will receive methodological support.
The promotion of local culinary traditions will be conducted through the mobile application "Gastronomic Map of Russia" and federal events. In the republic itself, food festivals, laboratories of regional cuisine and tours with the obligatory inclusion of dishes from local products have also been planned.
According to Shapovalova, back in 2018, buuz, the Buryat national dish, was presented at the FIFA World Cup. It is meat wrapped in dough and steamed. They always have the shape of a truncated yurt and an opening at the top, unlike mantas, which are completely closed on all sides.
Earlier it was reported that restaurants in Russia and six post-Soviet countries received awards within the framework of the WhereToEat International award. According to WTE International, BoBo (Saint Petersburg) became the best restaurant of the year.
