In Nizhny Novgorod, the court considered an appeal against the verdict of a local resident who tried to kill her mother — a pensioner lay with a knife in her back for two days. This was reported on May 22 in the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court.

The incident itself occurred back in November 2024. Nadezhda Ducart was drinking alcohol in her apartment, while her mother with musculoskeletal problems was in the next room. In the evening, the defendant went to her mother's house and hit her on the head several times, then took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her in the back.

"After that, she took her cell phone and keys, locked the apartment, and left the dying woman unable to leave or call for help. Two days later, relatives found a helpless pensioner with a knife in her back. Thanks to the qualified medical care provided, the woman survived," the court's website says.

In 2025, Nadezhda was sentenced to eight years in a general regime penal colony with one year of restriction of freedom. On May 21, 2026, the verdict was upheld by the appeal ruling of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court.

On February 6, in Novosibirsk, law enforcement officers managed to prevent the murder of a 72-year-old woman, who was ordered by her son for refusing to keep him.
