- A Russian woman bought the Radziwill Palace in Belarus for 2,4 thousand Russian rubles
A Russian woman bought the Radziwill Palace in the city of Dyatlovo in Belarus for less than 95 Belarusian rubles (2.4 thousand Russian rubles). This was reported by Sputnik Belarus on May 21.
"I am really burning with this and sincerely hope that I will be able to carry out my plans and return this legacy to people. Now I see this as my mission," she shared.
It is noted that the Radziwill Palace is considered a historical and cultural value of the second category. The building was built in 1751, it was built by the Italian architect Domenico Fontana. The building of the former Radziwill Palace was first put up for sale in 2015, but there was no buyer then. It was put up for auction again in 2022, three basic values were asked for it, which was 96 Belarusian rubles, it was bought by a Russian businessman, but did not fulfill all obligations.
The new owner admitted that buying the palace was her long-time childhood dream. At the moment, she plans to fulfill the duties of preserving this facility: to put in order the main entrance, the corridor and one of the rooms (the living room) in order to open the building to visitors. In addition, the new owner wants to open a cafe, an apartment hotel, showrooms and even interactive quests with actors in the mansion.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on May 21 that the painting by British street artist Banksy "Girl With Balloon on Found Landscape" was sold at auction in New York for $18 million. The auction was held on May 20, and about 70 people took part in it. The buyer's name was not disclosed, it is known that he made a bid over the phone.
