The Afghan authorities have abolished the minimum age for girls to marry. This was reported on May 21 by The Times newspaper.
According to human rights activist Horia Mosadiq, the new regulation provides for the possibility of marriage after the girl reaches puberty.
"If a girl reaches puberty at the age of nine or ten, then, according to the new law, she has reached the legal age for marriage," Mosadiq said.
