- "Spider-Noir": when is the premiere, what is the series about, who played the main roles
The premiere of the new Spider-Noir series based on Marvel comics about Spider-Man Noir will take place on May 25. The project will tell the story of former superhero Ben Reilly, known as Spider. After leaving the fight against crime due to tragic events, he became a private detective. The main role in the series was played by Nicolas Cage. What the project will tell you, who else took part in it and what inspired the creators to shoot — in the Izvestia material.
"Spider-Noir": The story of Ben Reilly
The series is set in New York City in the 1930s during the Great Depression and Prohibition. The main character will not be the usual Peter Parker, but Ben Reilly, played by Nicolas Cage. In the story, a former superhero known as Spider has given up fighting crime due to a past tragedy and is now working as a private investigator.
Showrunner Oren Uziel noted that the choice of this character made it possible to create a story different from the classic plots about growing up. Reilly appears as a mature and cynical man who tries to live an ordinary life until the strengthening of gangs in the city forces him to put on a mask again.
A noir-style confrontation and the main antagonists
The new trailer featured classic superhero opponents. Brendan Gleeson will play the role of a crime boss named Silvermane, whose henchmen with superpowers terrorize the city. The Sandman, played by Jack Huston, will also appear in the series.

The cast is complemented by Lamorne Morris as a reporter named Robbie Robertson and Li Junli, who plays a singer in a club named Kat Hardy. The conflict between a private investigator and organized crime will be the central line of the eight-part project.
The atmosphere of the 1930s: the style and inspiration of the creators
The creators of the series were inspired by the golden age of Hollywood and classic noir films. Nicolas Cage was guided by the images created by Humphrey Bogart in the paintings "Maltese Falcon" and "Deep Sleep". It is noteworthy that viewers will be able to see the series in both authentic black and white and full-color versions.
The performer of the main role himself said that he tried to bring into the character of the hero the features of Bogart's characters, including their ironic attitude towards other people's vices.
"I always liked watching Bogart, especially in films like The Big Sleep, because he seemed to be amused by other people's bad behavior. He started laughing at other people's anger, it got to him. I tried to bring a little bit of that to Spider-Noir," admitted the lead actor.

Uziel also noted the actor's diligence and immersion in the era. According to the showrunner's memoirs, at one of the meetings, the actor suddenly began to recite the script — at the table Cage began to act out an entire interrogation scene in the role of Edward G. Robinson, another famous face of the golden age of noir.
On May 5, Medialogia presented the results of the Russian series rating for the first quarter of 2026. The absolute leader was the project "Very Strange Things", which scored 15,948 points.
