The US Department of Commerce has made the final decision to impose countervailing duties on palladium from Russia. This was announced on May 21 on the website of the American department.
The rate of countervailing duties is set at 109.1%. The decision mentions, in particular, the Prioksky Non-Ferrous Metals Plant and Ural Innovative Technologies JSC.
At the end of April, the US Department of Commerce also imposed an anti-dumping duty of 132.83% on Russian palladium. At the same time, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) continues to investigate possible damage to the American industry from the supply of Russian metal.
According to the US Department of Energy, Russian palladium imports to the United States in 2024 amounted to $877.73 million, in 2023 it was estimated at $1.08 billion, in 2022 — at $1.35 billion.
On April 27, State Duma deputy and member of the Committee on Small and medium-sized enterprises Alexey Govyrin (United Russia faction) told Izvestia about the possible dynamics of prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium. He noted that gold retains fundamental support due to high demand from central banks and continued distrust of dollar assets.
