Experts told about the most popular destinations for the June holidays
Short domestic trips on holiday weekends are becoming the new norm for Russian tourists. The "leave for three days" format is gaining popularity: it does not require long-term planning, fits into any budget and gives the feeling of a full-fledged trip. June holidays are one of the most sought—after reasons for such a holiday. On May 22, experts from LEGENDA Hotels told Izvestia about this.
According to them, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar Krai remain the absolute leaders in bookings for June 12. These destinations benefit from a rich cultural program, well-developed tourist infrastructure, and a wide range of housing for every budget.
"The Krasnodar Territory is already in the middle of the season by this time, so the June holidays practically do not create additional demand for tourist hotels there, and there have always been quite a lot since the end of May. Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan are also among the top short trips — cities with a rich history and compact centers that are comfortable to explore in two or three days," said Marina Zlobina, Commercial Director of LEGENDA Hotels.
Nizhny Novgorod is especially crowded and atmospheric in summer: the city lives on embankments, festivals and outdoor venues. Strelka, the confluence of the Oka and Volga Rivers, is becoming the main summer space: in the evenings, people walk here under the sunsets, listen to street musicians, taste food on food courts and ride bicycles, take river walks. Verkhne-Volzhskaya and Nizhne-Volzhskaya embankments are classics for leisurely walks. In June, the city also hosts a variety of events and festivals: musical, gastronomic, and street.
Experts said that the cost of a short trip for three days off varies markedly depending on the destination and the level of demand. In Moscow, the average price per night in a hotel on public holidays is about 8,290 rubles — here the market remains relatively balanced due to the limited booking window and high competition.
The situation in the Moscow region is quite different: against the background of good weather and steady demand for country holidays, prices are noticeably higher and reach an average of 15,810 rubles per night. St. Petersburg is held at the level of 12,070 rubles, Kazan — 11,370 rubles, Nizhny Novgorod — about 10,950 rubles per night.
At the same time, experts added, it is not necessary to choose a hotel in the very center of the city — this is one of the ways to significantly save on travel. For example, a number of hotels in Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg provide guests with a free shuttle service to the center, which makes remote accommodation no less convenient, but much more affordable.
In addition, the specialists of LEGENDA Hotels drew attention to the fact that the portrait of a tourist on June 12 differs markedly by destination. Families with children often choose the Krasnodar Territory and the Moscow region — with a view to nature and outdoor activities. Couples gravitate towards Moscow and St. Petersburg, cities with romantic atmospheres, museums and restaurants. Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan attract about equally couples and families: both cities are equally convenient for walking and cultural immersion.
Elena Kosheleva, Director of Sberbank Insurance projects, reported on May 13 that with the onset of the warm season, Russians are more likely to travel around the country and abroad, but even a carefully planned vacation can be complicated by flight delays, baggage loss, or health problems. According to her, in preparation for the trip, first of all, it is necessary to think over the program in advance.
